Neurological Rehabilitation

Neurological syndromes and diseases can result in significant functional disability, affecting the productive life of some individuals. Re-educative and imagery techniques and a cognitive approach are the most common physical therapy tools Milan Physical Therapy uses to restore ability and function.

Lumbar Core Stabilization

Lumbar core stabilization is a program designed to alleviate and prevent lower back pain. By strengthening the core muscles that support the spine, we can train the spine to remain in proper alignment during daily activities, allowing for ease and safety in movement. Our therapists will develop a personalized treatment program that includes strengthening and flexibility exercises, education about proper posture, and training to maintain proper alignment of the spine during various activities.

Urinary incontinence is often a consequence of pelvic floor muscular weakness or a decrease of motor control. Physical therapy may help to restore a patient’s ability to avoid leakage completely, or at least partially. Treatment options include specific neuron-muscular re-education exercises, biofeedback, and electrotherapy.

In addition to afflictions that occur in younger people, older adults can also suffer conditions characteristic of their age. Therapy in the geriatric patient requires a very specific approach appropriate to both their age and pathology or disease. Age also determines the adjustment of treatment over time. Selecting the appropriate manual therapy, exercise and other procedures are crucial to successful treatment.

Back Pain/Spine Rehabilitation

Cervical, thoracic and lumbar pain of diverse origins can be treated very successfully with gentle direct manipulation, exercise, and neuromuscular techniques. At Milan Physical Therapy, we are specialists in manual therapy approaches, mainly: Maitland, Mulligan and Muscle Energy techniques. We also specialize in core stabilization techniques and holistic neuromuscular approaches to produce lasting results.

Milan Physical Therapy created this program to allow individuals who have been discharged from physical therapy to continue a program of exercise designed exclusively for them and their pre-existing problem. It’s designed to help prevent a recurrence of the injury or pathology by maintaining a healthy lifestyle and establishing links between rehab, fitness, and wellness.
